DBS Drum Challenge 2013 and 2014, both a nation-wide drum group competition, commissioned by DBS bank and produced by Tan Boon of Singapore Drum Fest, successfully searched out the most creative, technical proficient and entertaining drum groups found in Singapore.
On March 3rd, 2013, we had the honor to host 10-time Grammy Award winning artistes Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo from the Santana Band as they conduct their very first Percussion Clinic in Singapore. Known for their fiery contribution to the music of Santana, Raul and Karl wowed audiences with the basics and core heartbeat of the latin percussion that have drawn many listeners of Santana’s music to pay attention to. Held at the Lasalle College of the Arts Flexible Performance Space, the “dynamic duo” transformed the venue into a percussion command centre that left the audiences’ hearts racing and thoroughly inspired.
Jointly organized by Meinl Cymbals and Singapore Drum Fest, and supported by Fest Events International, groovemaster Benny Greb held his inaugural drum clinic in Singapore at the Nexus Auditorium on July 12th, 2010 to significant success. Benny demonstrated his love for music and his instrument throughout the clinic as he teaches on the different sounds a drummer can achieve without switching out to a different kit. A long line formed at the end of the clinic for Benny’s autograph and a chance to take a picture with the master of groove.
The Drum Circle led by internationally renowned drum facilitator, Christine Stevens, and saw over 650 attendees, including the kids from Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled, over the course of two days. Other performing artists such as Mohd Noor, Brandon Khoo, Heartbeat Percussion Band, The Strikeforce, Lila Drums, and Kallang Community Club’s own community drumming group also graced the event with their percussive skills for a fun-filled weekend of rhythm and joy.
The Drum Circle was held over the weekend on June 7 and 8, at *SCAPE Youth Park.
Will is recognised as one of the top drummers in the world and have been the main drummer for leading band, Yellowjackets. Will also won modern drummer magazine's reader's poll for best drummer (Electric, Jazz Category) three years in a row.
His clinic was held on 28th September 2007 at the YMS Auditorium.
The drumming powerhouse, best known for his astonishing independence of limb and his stalwart dedication to improving his craft, did not disappoint his 380 fans in attendance, the highest record attendance of all time for a drum clinic in Singapore. Fans were entertained by his great musicianship and impressive stick tricks, and received a great amount of education as the clinician emphasizes on technique over tricks, the importance of correct practice and hunger for learning new things.
The inaugural Singapore Drum Fest 2007, showcasing the best drummers from around the world. Featuring Gregg Bissonette, Gorden Campbell, Nate Morton, Jimmy Lee, Tony Royster Jr., Jojo Mayer, Derek Roddy, Grant Collins, Steve Thornton and Mohamed Noor.
It was held on June 9-10, 2007 at Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Comprising of Jojo Mayer on the drums, Oli Rockberger on the keys, Audun Waage on the trumpet and Janek Gwizdala on the bass, this signature event was hosted in Singapore on the 24th of November 2009 for a one-night-only concert. Often compared to Jaco Pastorius, considered one of the most influential bass player who ever lived, Janek boasts playing credits with jazz legends such as Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Marcus Miller & Randy Brecker. Janek has been in the international music scene for more than 10 years and has also toured with Australia’s top-selling female artiste Delta Goodrem and multi-platinum US singer/songwriter JEM.
The Drum Challenge 2008 Heats was held on July 12, 2008, at *SCAPE Youth Park. The semi-finals and finals was held at Arena Clarke Quay.
Held over the weekend of September 13 and 14, Singapore Drumfest 2008 returned for a second year much to the delight of drummers and musicians in the region. This year though, the format of the event went through a facelift in order to better cater to nondrummers – be it musicians or just simply music lovers.Other than drum masterclasses, the Main Event also featured classes for guitarists and vocalists, making the weekend a true haven for musicians. On top of that, the new Concert in the Park segment is exactly what you would expect from the name – a purely entertaining concert that anyone and everyone can enjoy.

Singapore Drum Challenge aims to raise and give new talents an opportunity to reveal themselves. Auditions was held at U.S. Studios On April 28 and 29. There are two categories: Open and Under-21.
The semi-finals held at Plaza Singapura on May 12, 2007, and the final at Singapore Drum Fest 2007, Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 9 and 10, 2007.

Drum Off Singapore gives Drummers be it established or new and upcoming drummer in Singapore an opportunity to showcase their skills and use this to go beyond their current career. This is Singapore’s ultimate drumming competition and it will be an engaging platform for contestants to interact with other drummers from Singapore it also encourages the drummers to get their creative juices flowing, expose drummers to more drumming techniques as they take new ideas and make something different of their own.

A Date with a Legend: Louis Soliano, is an evening of Jazz and amazing display of musical skills. It is also the opening event of Singapore Drum Fest 2016. He will be collaborating with world renowned pianist Benny Green who brings a hard bob jazz pianist style. Benny Green has been placed amongst the best and also a member of the prestigious vanguard of musicians keeping the jazz evolution alive. Popular jazz bassist, Dezron Douglas, known for his musical versatility will be in the evening’s line up together with Singapore’s very own local guitarist Andrew Lim. Together with Louis Soliano, Benny Green, Dehorn Douglas & Andrew Lim, this will truly be a night of remarkable music and moments.
Dennis Chambers is an American drummer who has recorded and performed with John Scofield, George Duke,Brecker Brothers, Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic, John McLaughlin, Niacin, Mike Stern, CAB, Greg Howe, and many others. Despite a lack of formal training, Chambers has become well known among drummers for his technique and speed.
We are honored to have him here for a legacy drum camp as well as a long awaited drum clinic which happened 19 years ago.
